draft coming up... what strategy to employ whir

Postby metsin05 » Sat Aug 12, 2006 8:36 pm

i have a 12 team league draft on monday with some interesting settings i was wondering what special strategy i shud use going in.

starting positions

2 qb 2 wr 2 rb 1 te 1 wr /rb

.25 points for a completion for qbs
25 yds per point for qb
10 yds per point for rb/wr

0 pts per reception

is it just me or shud i go rb rb rb first 3 pix pretty much regardless of whos there.

wrs seem like they have very liittle value with only u2 starters and no pts per reception.

appreciate your assistance whir

I'd pick the best player available in the 1st round and then repeat this insane strategy for each round after that. :-b ;-)

Tough to go in with a pre-determined set for what you are going to pick each round. Like FnJ said take teh best available. I do like to have 2 RBs out of the first 3 picks. I would also pick a QB a little earlier than normal because you have to start 2 and it is 12 teams. Good luck

I would be careful about how early though. A 2 QB league does increase the value of QBs, but a big mistake is often made about how early they are taken. With starting 2 RBs and a flex, RBs are still the most important part of his team. I would go RB in the first round for sure still, the 2nd round depends more on who is there and how early/late you pick in that round. With 2 QB starters, there will probably be a good number of QBs taken in the first 2 rounds which should allow you to land a couple good RBs in the first 2 rounds.

In the 3rd round I would look for the best player available. If a top QB is available (Manning, Brady, Hasselbeck, McNabb, Palmer) then I would consider taking them, otherwise I would either look at the RB value available or looking at a WR. Even in a league like this it wont necessarily kill you to wait till the 5th or 6th round before addressing your QB. But like others have said, going into the draft with a set position you want to pick each round is a terrible way to go, you just have to look at the best pick to make based on who is there.
