Im the league commish in an ESPN 12 team league. When do you think the best time for a draft is?

-To me the obvious is to hold it towards the end of preseason to avoid injuries (clinton portis)
-Since we're using ESPN im worried about server traffic so I was thinking of holding it after the third week.
-Im pretty sure the 3rd week is when the starters actually play a significant amount (3qtrs or so), and the 4th game they play little.
- I was thinking a weekday if possible but a weeknight would be more likely an account of the whole job thing.

The day before the season opener, ideally.

Really any time after camp is fine. Ideally you'ed want to do it after the third game but any time between now and the opener is good. The July drafts can get into a lot of speculation but a lot of that is gone now.

You still have that much choice? I registered my league (free Yahoo)a month ago and was barely able to get next friday night. All the weekend days were taken and most PM slots were gone.

But yeah, an evening as close to the end of pre-season as possible is the most ideal.

The best is the Sunday before the regular season starts - gives you more time to size up and talk trash about everyone else's team. ;-D

I would definitely advise you do it right before the season starts. Most of the positional questions should be answered, you'll avoid all of the random injuries that happen during the pre-season, and it'll be a good way to kickoff the season. ;-D
