Lee Suggs traded to JETS

OK, so with Martin, Suggs, Houston, Blaylock, and Washington on the roster, who gets cut?

The obvious answer is Martin, but if he decides not to retire, can the Jets really cut the guy?

How do the PUP rules work? Is there some kind of injury designation they can give Martin that won't cut him but also won't count against their 53 man roster?

IIRC Players on the PUP list don't count against the 53 Man Roster.

I'm not sure Blaylock is JUST a role player. For his 118 carries in '04, for KC, he had great value in rushing for over 500 yards and 8 TDs. I don't mean fantasy value; I mean he gave every indication he could step up and produce in a starting role, which he's never yet been given.

It's one thing to say he could be a starter behind that KC offensive line, and it's totally another thing to think he can be a starter behind the five guys that the Jets will be running out there every week.

And isn't Houston still too young, unproven, to be called a "role player?" Granted, that's what they're calling him -- I just think it could be premature.

I don't know if I would call him a role player, but that's what the Jets view him as, according to reports, and that's what ultimately matters. Same thing for Tatum Bell. There are plenty of FFers that think he can be a starter, but Shanahan doesn't think so, so I won't draft him, because Shanny calls the plays.
