Let someone else gamble on Vernon. As a Terp alum, I love the guy and he is a beast, but too much hype and bad qb/team situation will lead him to get picked too early. As someone mentioned earlier, TE pool is really deep this year, no need to reach for guys

I personally wouldn't draft him before Eric Johnson. I do think he is going to be a monster in this league , but not this year.

I'd draft Vernon only if its late in the draft and their real isnt any decent TEs available. I think he will have low fantasy production year. First off he plays for 49ers, second he is a rookie after all. He needs time to adjust and learn the offense and defense, also to get a feel for the speed of the game. Also he has Eric Johnson opposite from him that should steal some catches. I like Vernon, he is an outstanding athlete but I cant say he will have a great fantasy year. Hopefully he proves me wrong! Thing is, you need to get into the red zone (in most cases) to score a TD. I'd take a late round flier on Davis, but that's about it. Teams will probably try and take away the short stuff and force Smith to beat them deep.

It will take more than one pre-season game to convince me Smith has matured from a < 10 TD per season passer to someone that can enable production in the passing game worthy of a fantasy roster spot.

In a redraft league he's probably got no value. My guess is about 35 catches, 400 yards, 2 touchdowns this year. It doesn't matter how good he is in this offense.
