5th pick in a ten teamer(redraft) with Portis' injury

Ok, until last weekend I was prepared to take either tiki or portis depending on who fell to me. Now that portis is injured and concerns over a lingering shoulder injury that could affect regular season games, the 5th pick has turned into a bad place to draft from.

Looking at S-Jax, Edge, Ronnie and Rudy as possible choices and I'm leaning toward S-Jax. However is Edge can show me something in preseason besides his two runs for -2 yards last game, I might be persuaded to pick him.

I've ran several mock drafts and I have taken S-Jax at 5 but in the second round often times Holt(my top rated WR) is avail and I feel weird taking two Rams.

I'm interested in your opinions on the #5 pick and also picking two rams.

here's my opinion: take Portis or Tiki.

Tiki is awesome, and Portis' injury isnt too serous.

You could just trade back a few spots, pick up an extra pick or position in the second round, and then grab SJax.

with portis as a top 3 rb in my book i am happy with this injury. i will walk into my auction draft and get him for the price of a late 1st round pick. it was a partial dislocation to his left shoulder. he is expected to be out of all pre season and ready for week 1. a partial dislocated shoulder is something that can come back but i would still take him with the 5th pick since he has so much potential. the biggest thing people are worried about is that he wont be able to catch the ball, news flash he never could. there is nothing wrong with taking SJax either, i am actually planning on taking both of them in my draft and this injury will gvie me some more money to spend on a better wr. i have SJax ranked at 6 so its preference, when is your draft?

This is what I am thinking. I am still taking him 4th overall in my draft this weekend. I am glad because he will be ready to go and now he wont play and get hurt in the last week of training camp like some other fantasy impact player that you will lose for real games during the fantasy football season.

Wow the optimism here is...inspiring.

My opinion - this injury is going to hinder Portis all season. He's taking the pre-season off to rehabb, if he responds well to the rehabb, they'll stick him back in there and hope he holds up. After coming up a career high in carries last season, I'd be very surprised if Betts got more carries even IF Portis is healthy.

And, if his shoulder takes a wrong hit and pops out again, his season is done.

I understand the risk/reward, but to just say "he's going to be fine" or "he's a gamer" and draft him at 4 like you were going to last week, I think is being very...optimistic.
