What would you guys say is the best program for a beginner interested in making sigs?

i agree...i started on 7.0 i believe, but i think cs2 is easier.

lol thats what i have and use for most of the sig then touch it up with cs2

I just started out and am using Gimp, which was free. I didn't want to pay for anything. It's a little tricky in the beginning but I got use to it fast.

Yeah, I have Gimp too, but I'm getting ready to get 7.0. Most of the artists use either photoshop 7.0, CS, or CS2.

what do u mean y? because its better...

(btw by touching it up i mean doing the pic effects and such, i do all the cutting and stuff on elements but all the good stuff on cs2, idk y just a habit)
