Does a keeper league with one keeper make sense?

So my money league with some people from work had a vote and we decided to change the league from a redraft to a keeper. I'm fine with this, since our draft isn't until next week and whatever. However, the commish is thinking of going with one keeper...

Now, am I crazy or does this give too much of an advantage to the guys who pick #1 and #2? It seems that you'd most likely be keeping your first rounder into the future, and that this setup wouldn't give the snake draft a chance to "work its magic" and even things out.

Am I right? Am I wrong? What do you think?

sounds retarded if you can keep anyone, maybe limit it to guys drafted in the 4th round and later?

My buddy league is a small 8-teamer where we kept 1 player from last year. Next season we're keeping 2. I don't see a problem with it. Of course, I got LJ.

It's not a small league, it's a regular 12-teamer... It just seems to me that the guys who get LT and LJ have a huge advantage over everyone else...

I pick 12th, which I was fine with when it was still a redraft, but now that it's a keeper (and we'd only keep one) I think that spot kind of blows.

yeah, that's pretty lame. But every year there's also a guy who comes out of the 6th/7th round and vaults himself into 1st round status. Pick that guy

What would be the point of having a keeper league with only one keeper? Keeping your first rounder is a no-brainer (barring a very serious injury). Might as well just keep it a redraft.

I would think something in the vicinity of 4 or 5 keepers might be a little bit more equalizing and take into account what everyone did in the orginal draft as well.

I don't mind leagues with only one keeper but in this case I'd argue for an even number since you're just now starting the league. That allows the serpentine draft to 'work its magic' as you put it.

I am in a 10 team league that keeps only 1 player too. I prefer to keep at least 2, but it works fine keeping only 1. Maybe you should all just not keep anyone this year, then next year start keeping one player. That way it is a little more fair. Some people will have a an advantage over others every year, but over the years that should balance itself out as long as you draft well.
