Why was he so overlooked? Arizona even took Bryant JOhnson before him at 17...

Lions took C Rogers 2nd overall...bet they wish they could have that one back.

Why was Tom Brady overlooked?

Why was jerry rice overlooked?

Why was emmitt smith overlooked?

Scouting is anything but an exact science.

I don't know, but he was an absolute stud at Florida State. I think he didn't do well at the combine if I remember right.

He was good at FSU but knee troubles are most likely what made him slip.

1. He wasn't a pure WR. The same reason why most people had Matt Jones going sometime in the second.
2. He ran a 4.71 fourty. I'm not a big believer in 40 times, but a 4.71 is hella slow for a WR.

He ran a 4.75 40 or somewhere around there.

For ref., Reggie Bush runs like a 4.3 flat, T.O's probably in the 4.40-4.45 range if not faster (for his size very very good). Mario Williams ran around a 4.71.

So NFL teams thought he had the speed of a good DE, heh.

Hines Ward was the last pick in the 3rd round...98 draft....Brian Griese went one pick ahead.

Boldin had a knee injury or something that he was coming back from? I think he clocked in with a 4.6 40 time as well..
