NFL Rules - Trading

Postby spamnon » Wed Sep 06, 2006 9:00 pm

Not sure if this fits in this forum, so if not please move it. But does anyone know where I can find any information on NFL rules related to trading draft picks? I have searched google, looked on nfl.com and couldn't find anything.

Is it something to the affect where the pick being traded must be equal to or greater to the round the player was drafted in? For instance if team A was trading for a former 4th rounder from team B, then team A needs to give team B atleast a 4th round pick or better. Or am I way off base? Any help would be appreciated.

I've never heard anything about that, and it shouldn't be if it is. Not sure though...

Don't have a website, but the first example that popped in my head to disprove that was Culpepper (1st round pick) being traded to Miami for a 2nd rounder.

They're not really rules...more like guidelines. ;-D

i forget the name, but there is a chart that assignsdraft picks points, and the teams use this as a rough guideline. you don't have to follow it thoguh.

You can't trade compensatory picks for losing free agents though.
The opening scene of the movie "Saving Private Ryan" is loosely based on games of dodgeball Brian Dawkins played in second grade.
