False start stops the clock at the cost of 5 yards
Ball spike stops the clock at the cost of a down
The 10 second runoff keeps linemen from deliberately causing penalties to stop the clock in tough situations.

I think they put it in there so that teams without a timeout wouldn't purposely have a penalty just to stop the clock..
I was getting ready to address this. The referee should have the ability, under such a stupid rule, to determine whether or not the offense is committing the penalty on purpose to stop the clock. That false start was clearly not on purpose, not when Manning is going to spike it to stop the clock.
This rule is one of the dumbest rules in sports history.

So what? If the offense wants to give up 5 yards to stop the clock late in a game, what's wrong with that?

I thought the Giants actually looked stronger overall then the Colts, but those solid early drives with no points cost them the game. I'd be worried about the D if I was a colts fan, no one was making tackles on the first hits.
