Roy Williams guarantees win next week against Bears

Postby Goatwhacker » Mon Sep 11, 2006 7:38 pm

The Lions lost their season opener to Seattle, 9-6, but they will beat the Bears on Sunday in Chicago. It’s guar-Roy-teed.

“We will win this game,” Lions wide receiver Roy Williams told reporters Monday. “You can all take that as a guarantee or whatnot, but we will win this game.”

Williams backed off a bit, however, when a reporter compared him to the Pistons’ Rasheed Wallace.

“I’m just saying, we’re going to go out there and play the way we’re supposed to play, and when we play the way we’re supposed to play, we’re supposed to win,” Williams said.

It isn’t guaran-'Sheed.

“No 'Sheed, no nothing,” Williams said. “When we play the way we’re supposed to play, like our defense played the way they did Sunday … I don’t think there’s no team in this league that can beat us.”

This is kind of different than the other guarantees. Hes pretty much saying "if we play to our full potential and we play together and do the right things, we will win," which I agree with. Any team, if they played a flawless game, could win a game against anyone. But Detroit isnt going to play a flawless game. They will get destroyed, in fact. Probably shut out.

I think a few things:

1. The Detriot Lions are going to be much better this year than people were expecting.

2. The Seahawks offense seriously helped out the Detriot D by not being anywhere near game ready. This shouldn't be construed as taking anything away from the Lions D--they pretty much had us all day.

3. The Detriot offense was terrible on Sunday.

If they turn things around on the offense against the Bears it might be a different game. If they play as good defensively against the Bears as they did against the Seahawks the Bears could have problems. It's not like they're an offensive powerhouse. More like an outhouse.

honestly i could see the lions win...grossman is a very bad qb. He cant manage a game and makes alot of mistakes. If the held the seahawks to 9, i could see them shutout the bears

Once Detroit gets a handle on the mike martz offense.....they'll be a very dangerous team. They're defense looked solid against Seattle, I don't think all of it was Seattle playing poorly....

The difference between what Roy Williams and Rasheed Wallace say is that the Pistons are a championship team..where as the Lions..well..I don't even know where to put them.
