And what exactly does this mean?
It means that it’s obvious by your attitude that you’re a homer for Oregon – hence calling anyone who disagrees with the outcome of the game “whiners” whether they’re Oklahoma fans or not. Your attitude is that of a partisan, not an impartial observer. It seems (to me at least, I’m not speaking for anyone else) that you’re taking our conversation as an attack on Oregon, not as a discussion of the officiating crew.
What you need to be really aware of is that NOBODY at the Café is blaming Oregon for this debacle. It’s all on the officials. Oregon did exactly what they should have done, and what any other team in college football would have done in their place. There isn’t a person in this conversation, Moonhead included, who thinks UO did something wrong.
Separate the two issues here – rooting for your team and discussing the calls in the game – and you won’t be getting flak from everyone else.
The funny thing is, by creating a separate issue of torquing people off by calling them “whiners” and such, you’ve actually lengthened this conversation beyond what it would normally have gone.
Superbowl XL. I'm the Seahawk fan who is STILL BENT about the officiating. But I've said a million times, "the Steelers and their fans got ripped off, too, because there is a neverending 'PS' behind their win.
So I'm at the Oregon game last Saturday. I am a former Duck and live here and love football. So me and my boy are in utter jubulation at the end of the game. We have no TV or radio. We get to find out later that the best game I've ever seen in person was robbed from Oklahoma.
Well, that sucks. Oklahoma got the worst end, but we got shafted too. So we take solace in the argument that, "we lost the ball on a bad call too," and all the other bad calls and non-calls and blah-blah-blah.
Does it feel better being on the side with a W? A little.
Would I be hopping mad if I was a Sooner? You better believe it.
I'm a Seahawk fan, remember? We totally get it.
The Sooner fans at the game are great fans. You got ripped. We all did.
Yo, Met... thanks for the sig! GO DUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It always sucks when officials influence a game in a way they should not have...both for the winning and the losing team. Hopefully the PAC 10 and all other other conferences use this situation to correct problems they all have in the replay system. Either get all the TV camera angles available to the replay officials or do away with the system and go back to the way it use to be.

Wow, talk about somebody jumping to conclusions. Way to go, I hope you're not regularly like this because it's going to get you into A LOT of trouble some time. Why don't you come to Oregon sometime and see if everybody here loves the Ducks? I'll save you the trip and just tell you that a good portion of the state hates the Ducks.
I graduated from Oregon State in 2004. Apparently you really don't have a clue of the rivalry between the two schools, but since you're not here I can't really fault you for that. However, the fact of the matter is that I usually wish for Oregon to lose every game they play. I LIKE to see them lose, I'd even go so far as I LOVE to see them lose.
So if I'm saying the Oklahoma fans/pres/coach are pathetic for whining and crying, you better believe I damn well think it's true. I hate the Ducks with every fiber of my being, so being called an Oregon homer is downright insulting. The fact of the matter is that Oklahoma is just pathetic for way they handled the whole situation. Maybe if they'd taken the high road and acknowledged that there were some bad calls and they were moving on they wouldn't look so bad. Instead they claim they want the game thrown out and threaten to cancel games with other Pac-10 schools. That shows a marked lack of class. And I suppose it's not really a partisan opinion, since I'd love to have any excuse to demean the Ducks.
Seperate these two issues for me - getting your facts straight and thinking I care what people are blaming UO for doing. And no I don't see the conversation as an attack on Oregon, although I certainly would be happy if it ended up being that way.

That's why at the end of the Auburn/LSU game I was so happy to see that flag waved off. Sure, the LSU fans obviously weren't gonna be happy but I'd be much happier to see the play decided on the field by the players than by the officials. (Note that Les Miles reported the play to the SEC and they have since stood behind their officials and said the correct call was made on both the no-call at the end of the game as well as on the play where Auburn WR Courtney Taylor was interferred with by an LSU defender.)

This is a sticky subject. I think that instant replay should be standard across the NCAA whether Florida is playing Tennessee on CBS primetime or Florida is playing Southern Miss and it's only on Pay-Per-View. The problem is that the camera angles available to the instant replay staff is not available during that Southern Miss game, however the game can equally affect Florida's season. If though, the instant replay staff has a consistent setup used throughout the season no matter who the opponent, then that is something that I see as a lot more fair, and something that could be used more efficiently by the replay officials. A system where the replay setup is not the same across the board could become a problem such that the lower budget D-1 football programs could be hard pressed for money and thus couldn't pay for a serious, top of the line system like the big Florida, Ohio State, Texas-type schools can afford.

I gotta agree here. Typically I'll err on the side of Bob Stoops, I think he's a good guy and a great coach. However, he needs to get control of his program and tell everyone involved that the game is done and over with and to move on. Stoops should submit the plays to the officials committee and move on from their. His actions by submitting those plays are all that he needs to say about the issue and he has already done that. And for goodness sake, someone get control of their president! This guy has lost it!
Now fans and the media are a different story. I think those are the people who have to stay on this. The officials made a huge mistake and they should know it (don't go threatening people's families and stupid stuff like that though). Sometimes, hearing that you messed up from your conference's commish isn't enough and you need to hear how much you really screwed up... this is one of those times.

So you're just naturally insulting to people you don't know online? Great.
