It all depends on the ratio of points per rushing yard vs. points per passing yard.
In an NFL.com league (1 pt/10 rushing yard, 1 pt/25 passing yards) Vick actually ends up as a slightly better fantasy QB. Again, it all depends on your scoring.
Just thought I'd share, as I'm starting Vick over Delhomme at least until Steve Smith gets back.
When you decided that Vick is better than Delhomme with this scoring set up, did you include TD's?
....and streaky performances? I'd rather have 10 fantasy points each week than the 20, 15, and then -5 that Vick produces
I'm too lazy to post the numbers on this one, but this is a common myth. All QBs have bad games from time and time, Vick is no different.
Many people fail to understand how important rushing stats can be for a fantasy QB. Vick was a top8 QB last year, and I think he is virtually a lock to repeat that this year, with a decent chance to go top5.
Last week he passed for less than 150 yards for example, yet he was still ranked as the #6 QB for the week.. If you scoring includes 1/10 rush and 1/20-25+ passing scoring, Vick is a top10 QB. If there is 4 pts per pass TD, Vick is a top5 QB. End of story.
Actually Vick only had 3 weeks last year when he put up under 10 FF. They were late in the season against Carolina and Chicago and then in week 17. Week 17 is not even considered and if you couldn't see the rough weeks coming against the other two, well that's on you as much as it is on Vick.
If Vick throws for 150 and runs for 50, thats that same as a QB throwing for 250 basically. As for the injury issue, well he hasn't missed major time since '03 and as long as you have Schaub, you're not going to be losing out on much if anything.
The reason I feel comfortable with Vick is he is not like a Delhomme wherein all of his WR's could get hurt and he would still produce in the same manner.
