What's with everyone wearing white at home?

Postby Azrael » Sun Sep 17, 2006 7:30 pm

I know a few teams do it traditionally like the Cowboys but both games on today (Bengals and Eagles) the home teams wore white. I get it if it was hot out, but it wasn't.

At the risk of bringing in another baseball reference..... :-o

Home baseball teams almost always wear white with just a few exceptions; maybe they are taking a page from their book. :-?

But I buy the hot weather theory also...it was about 80 in Pittsburgh today while I was at the Pirates game. :-°

I'd say that's likely the case. Darker jerseys attract more heat from the sun...the same principle as using eyeblack. It's a very small advantage, but it's an advantage nonetheless.

They were talking about it during the Bear game, teams had to put in there jersey request a few months back, so home teams are going to choose the white jersey in September in case its a real hot day
