im not convinced yet. give him a couple more weeks and a matchup against a better defense (im not saying detroit is bad, but there are definitely better defenses out there), and then ill consider it.
Kudos to Leber for the amazing sig and to Metroid for the userbar and making them both fit 2008 and 2009 Defunct Dynasty League Champion
Um, the one thing Rex has ALWAYS done is take a lickin'. What remains to be seen is whether he can adapt when teams put significant pressure on his O line. But it's a good O line (been weak on run blocking this year, but good on QB protection for the last year or so) and I don't know how many teams are going to put them in a tough situation, to that end.
I don't expect Grossman to put up these numbers all year. Especially since he'll most likely never see the field for all 16 games after he gets injured.
Well, as you can tell from the sig, i am for the bears. Going into this season, with all defensive starters returning AND using almost the entire draft on D AND picking up an above average player Ricky Manning, I was confident that Grossman needed to be an average quarterback and we would be very successful. So far, Grossman has exceeded expectations. Let's say that this week he goes out and throws for 215 and 2 TDs. Not HUGE fantasy numbers, and average quarterback numbers, but the bears would still win with that D. If Grossman can stay at or above the "average" mark, the Bears will be a legitimate contender.
NOW, as a fantasy quarterback, I don't see him being this productive for the year. If anything, look for T Jones to start picking it up. Defenses are going to start keying in on the pass, leaving Jones more room to run. He is a GREAT buy low right now.

Its amazing that you came to that conclusion after a win against a very tough divisional opponent in a very hostil stadium. I'll agree that he was not very impressive for just about the entire game yesterday. Hell the the bears didnt deserve to win that game, and I've been a huge bears fan forever. They played extremely sloppy, missed a ton of tackles, and turned the ball over. But when they needed the big plays Rex stepped up and got them, I think he looked fantastic on that TD drive. Keep in mind he's only started about 10 games in his career, its way to early to say that he is or isnt the real deal.

I like his talent, but with a lack of game experience, he will be inconsistent. Yesterday was a great example. One minute he is making a boneheaded decision out of his own endzone, and the next he throws a perfect strike for a game winning TD. As for his fantasy value, play the matchups and keep in mind his major struggles will likely come on the road.
