Ignore them Kid a. I'm in cinci and if I heard some crap I would tell everyone here too.

I'm starting onterrio this week over bryson. Look at my roster and you'll see why:

QB: Steve McNair/Patrick Ramsey
RB: Portis/Lewis/Bryson/Onterrio/Green/Mike Anderson
WR: Holt/Boldin/Warrick/McCareins
TE: Todd Heap
K: Sebastian
DEF: KC

Honestly, depending on how you see the Lion/9er game turning out, that might be a mistake.

I think the Lions win big in Frisco. Just a hunch that I'll probably be way off on, but if they do win big, Bryson will most likely be a big reason why. I like him this week.

I, obviously, like Onterrio this week too, so I don't think you can go wrong either way.

A bit of caution...

The 'newbie' Viking fan here who posted earlier in another thread about Onterrio.

I would take Kid As comments as truth and thank him for his comments. Thank you Kid A. But we should all understand this is still speculation by Mike Tice at best. But at least there is some 'buzz' in the Twin Cities regarding Onterrio Smith.

Our real focus should be on Mike Tice, whether Mike Tice said it or not is irrelevant. What we really want to know is if he said it, did he mean it? This is the same head coach who said Onterrio could start week 1 and if he did not start he would see significant time. Later in the week he changed his position to Onterrio could get 20 carries, 5 carries or 1 carry. We all saw what happen, Onterrio was inactive.

So lets be truthful, nobody really knows what Tice is going to do (just ask the Dante Culpepper and newly claimed Gus Ferotte fans. The number of carries Onterrio gets each week will be speculation until he carries the ball 25 times in consecutive weeks (without fumbling). I am targetting week 8 that Onterrio will have earned the starting job or the starting job will be imminent in his future.

On Moe Williams: I love the guy, a real hard worker and a real asset for our team. If the offensive line gives him 3 yards, he is going to take it. If the offensive line gives him 5 yards, he is going to take it. He gets the most out of his carries as he physically can. Moe does not make mistakes. But that is why Onterrio will eventually get the job. Onterrio is quicker, more of slasher, has some power and has some speed. He can get the 3 yards or the 5 yards the offensive line gives him, but he also has the ability to make guys miss, run over them or run away from them. In a game of inches, that potential is huge for a team trying to move the football.

man, I could be an RB for the viqueens and average 4.5 yds a carry. whoever is their RB does well. we can see moe williams easily filled in for the 'stud' bennett (not denying williams any talent) because the o-line blocking is great (and because jim kleinsasser is the best blocker ever!).

same goes for denver, with the exception that clinton portis is butt friggin amazing and is a future MVP.

I want to point out that the aforementioned post is probably from a Bears fan (foreverabearsfan).

This praise carries significantly more weight coming from a Bears fan than it would from a Vikings fan.

But that Vikings offensive line is really awesome. If the Vikings featured a back, that featured back could carry a lot of teams to the Fantasy Football Playoffs...(The BlueOnion begins scratching his head and mumbling names such as...Williams...Chapman...Smith...Bennett).

Just to set the record straight, Bennett is not going anywere. Tice really likes him and I have no idea what you mean by injury prone. This is the first big injury he has every had. And it won't affect him much, it was a stress fracture on the part of the leg where you don't even out any of the weight on. He will be 100% when he comes back. He will be the starter. Smith is not a very good rb. He can't block at all. And if the Vikings decide to use him only on running plays and not on passing ones, then don't you think the Defenses would figure that out? If for some reason the Vikes would trade Bennett, he would be a very good RB somewhere else. He is a stud. I consider studs, guys who you would start vs anybody. Well, last year Bennett got a 72 yd run vs the Bucs D. That is tied with Barry Sanders for the longest run ever vs TB. If he did that vs TBs D, then he could do it vs anybody.

Nice. Name calling and slander from a vet on this board.

I feel I should point out that the total amount of posts you have does not make you a veteran poster here, its the date you joined and the quality of your posts that get you that status. Not that im saying Sin hasnt had quality posts, he has, in fact he has been quite helpful to a number of people on the "who to start bench forum"

Little harsh of him to call you a liar, but not the end of the world.

Mike Tice is a "players coach" and likes everybody, from Bennett to Williams to Smith to Chapman.

This is the first "big" injury Bennett has had, yes, but he's been hampered by "small" injuries through college and his rookie year. IIRC, last year was Bennett's first 16 game season, and IIRC, he sucked until October.

He may be 100% when he comes back, but as someone else stated, he was supposed to 100% well before July. It's a long ways past July, and he's far from 100%. Not to mention, he's not in football shape, hasn't taken any hits, etc. I'd have to say that right now based on all the info before us, he will *not* be 100% anytime over the next 6-10 weeks.

Smith is potentially a great RB, with his main flaw being blocking, which is something you can learn, especially reading blitzes. And with the O-line being so good and C-Pep being so mobile, there is room for error here somewhat anyways. If picking up the blitz is the only thing stopping him from stardom, he's certainly a future star.

As for Bennett's stud status, I guess we'll agree to disagree. I think he's a good back, not a stud. He's a speed guy, somewhere in between Fred Taylor and Warrick Dunn. The speed of these guys alone enables them to break off a 90 yarder against anyone at anytime. I think a healthy Taylor is a stud. I don't think anyone would argue Dunn being a stud, and I think Bennett falls right in between the 2.

And please, we all know that 1 play does not make somebody a stud, or even somebody half way decent. With that logic Aveion Cason is a stud.

It's okay, kid a, I heard the same thing, Tice said it in his weekly radio conference call.

And posting 60 times a day doesn't make you a "vet" :-]

Thanks for everyone who backed me up, and thank you especially for giving some confirmation to the story!! :)

I know I shouldn't have taken it to heart, but I thought I was doing the board a favor and when I logged back, saw I was labeled a "lier" I was a little ticked off, I'm over it now.
