look at all the hype urlacher gets, his #1 selling jersey, his name in the discussion of best LB in the nfl. at this point, he's (usually) an above-average LB, but he too, gets all the love. because he's white. if he was black, he wouldnt get all that praise. but rush didnt have too much to say about that.
and this great white hype phenomenon isnt just peculiar to football. it's in other sports and areas of entertainment as well(music comes to mind).
How can you say Urlacher is overrated? He had the most solo tackles in the league!! I think he is underrated if anything. This guy plays game in, game out. If you ever watch him play...he's involved in every play if it's somewhere in the short field. Obviously he won't be involved in a 25 yard pass...but what LB is really? This black/white talk is so stupid!! We're all created by God the same. As far as Urlacher not being mentioned if he was black....how can the leading tackler NOT be mentioned?!
urlacher overrated ARE YOU NUTS hes the bears whole defense. his jersey is the number one seller because the bears have alot of fans and people respect him because he plays hard and doesnt complain and run his mouth like ohter players.

Just look at Mike Vick! All year last year, commentators spoke of how stifling the Falcons D was. How it shut out the Panthers two games of the season! The Panthers...aren't they the team that started RODNEY PEETE AND LAMAR SMITH LAST YEAR?!?! Yes. But the same situation happened with Mcnabb last year. And when Mcnabb went down, the team didn't fade like Atlanta has. They kept on winning, even with their 3rd string QB in there.
I had philly's D in fantasy last year, and with the amount of sacks, turnovers, and defensive TD's they were getting, it would be hard to lose as qb of that team.
Um, I know this thread has changed directions but Urlacher had 214 tackles last year (159 solo). That's pretty good.

But the punter is the most historically white position I can think of!
Why doesn't the NFL force teams to try out a black punter before signing a white punter?

I remember when Doug Williams won the super bowl. Before that time everyone had the opinion that a black quarterback didn't have the proper make-up to lead an NFL team. That is one of the main reasons Warren Moon played in canada before coming to the NFL. How stupid does that kind of thinking seem now? There are good and bad running quarterbacks black or white. Race should be takien out of the disscussion and just focus on what kind of player they are.
