Great news for Portis owners.

Updating previous reports, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports Denver Broncos RB Clinton Portis (chest) expects to play in Sunday's, Oct. 5, game against the Kansas City Chiefs after making it through contact drills OK in Thursday's, Oct. 2, practice. Head coach Mike Shanahan said he saw enough to proclaim Portis ready for Sunday's game.

I just hope that he finished the game. Unlike the CIN, SD, and OAK games.

My alternatives are pretty slim.

Sweet. Now I don't have to sacrifice that chicken and put Bettis in my lineup! ;-D

I actually had to look up your fourth RB, Domanick Davis. Never heard of the guy until a few minutes ago. Looks like he might have some upside though.

Go Portis! Run fast, jump high.

Guys, don't get too excited. Portis WILL play, but one hit in the chest and he is done. Look at this: Copy/Pasted from news site.
The News
Clinton Portis (bruised sternum) took hits in full pads on Thursday and felt fine, the Associated Press reported. Portis missed last Sunday's game and has not finished a start all season. "Really, I don't have any concerns,'' Portis said. "I feel good and if I didn't, I don't think I'd put myself in this situation. I'm ready to go out and test it.'' Head coach Mike Shanahan added, "He said he had no setback, so he should be ready to go unless something happens tomorrow.''
Our View
Portis added that there is still a chance his rib could pop out, as it did against the Raiders a couple weeks back. Obviously, if the rib pops out, he's done for the day. This week's game against the Chiefs at Arrowhead promises to be one of the most physical of the season, so Portis is a very, very risky start. Basically, if you have a solid alternative, take it. If you have no depth at running back, however, roll the dice on Portis.
See what I am saying? I have him too, but I am not risking it.

I think Portis will be simply a hit or miss this week. If the rib pops out, he's obviously done with poor stats. If his rib is fine, I think he'll post big numbers against a Mediocre Oakland run D...
LT finally got put on the right foot when he played the Raiders a couple weeks back
