with henry performing so well and housh coming back and performing well... what are your thoughts on chad johnson this year? many thought he was going to be a top 3 wr this season but i'm not so sure anymore... i think defenses all key in on him and with the talent of henry and housh, carson can throw their way w/o thinking twice... any thoughts? is he still a top 5-8 WR this year?

I wouldn't expect more than 9-10 TD's out of the guy, which is exactly what he has done the last 3 years.

He makes the most of his TD's with his choreographed celebrations and remains one of my favorite WR's, but really...what more can you expect out of him than what he has accomplished the past few years?

I think he'll get his 1200-1400 yards and 9 or 10 TD's when all is said and done unless he gets hurt. As long as he has Palmer back there, I wouldn't worry about his production.

Really Palmer only proved himself last year, and Chad was still able to produce large two years prior to that.

Defenses have been keying in on him for the last 3 or 4 years, there's no reason to think this year is any different.

The only issue is that he gets alot of his yards from the deep ball, and there have been a few injuries to Cincy's O-Line so far this year. Palmer hasn't had the protection he ususally gets, and that in turn hurts those deep passes.

I think he's only going to improve. With Housh back the Bengals have a legitimate #2 threat and that will ease some of the pressure from Chad. Also, with Henry facing legal problems this may increase Chad's opportunities.

I think defences are learning this year you can't just focus on him and ignore the other WR's on the Bengals - he'll have a decent year now that the other receivers will garner equal attention.

I heard Clayton on the radio kinda try to explain his performance last Sunday. Besides saying that he was blanketed by Pittsburgh, he had head health issues from his hit the week before. Said he was dehydrated and had to drink through a straw because his jaw was all messed up and missed his McDonalds drive-thru because he couldn't chew right, LOL.

Then again, it was kinda jokey so maybe his performance was just the result of good coverage. Anyways, I don't think Chad is going to have such a dismal game twice in a row. His ego wouldn't be able to take it. I can imagine him going crazy after getting his head knocked off one game, then one catch for 11 yds the next, and then no TD the third game.

This is interesting. I just read these quotes from footballdiehards today and Chad realizes he may not get the big numbers this year and he will mainly play a role in helping get the W's.. Here you go...

Johnson, a three-time Pro Bowl receiver, avoided a repeat of the emotional halftime meltdown he suffered against the Steelers in the AFC wild-card playoff game Jan. 8.

"I am somewhat of a difference maker when I am out there, and it showed today," Johnson said. "I can help my team win in ways other than catching the ball.
"I'm glad we had a game like this to show the world, show everybody that we could win without me being out there. That's the way it's going to be all year."

Here is the link. This is a very interesting article that mainly talk how Chad has grown up and is not a throw to me type guy anymore.. Bengals will toss the rock around a ton this year! Footballdiehards is always one of the very first places I go for info (besides here).. They totally have got their stuff together and update throughout the day every day..
