My Controversial List

Postby TRIBEFAN888 » Sat Sep 30, 2006 12:07 pm

I was thinking about something, if all the players in the NFL were enter into a draft, and you were one of the 32 GMs of the NFL, what would your "draft board" look like? Pretend that the players you draft stay on your team for 5 years. Who would you target? These are my top 150 mainly based on ability, but I took age into account too. If I'm an NFL GM, I'm taking Carson Palmer, Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, etc. over any defensive player.

True - Urlacher is probably the first defensive player I'd take, but there way the game is played now I'd have to start my list with Peyton and Carson Palmer.

I would think Peyton, Brady, and Carson would be the top 3 picks.

Interesting thread... but no way I'm going to try to rank out 50 players for a draft like that. :)

My #1 would be LT, and then I'd go defense or O-Line for the next few picks, leaving my QB and WR for later picks.

So in effect, I'd have the San Diego Chargers with better defense ;-D

"Defense and running the ball wins championships."

Don't forget that if you chose an elite QB you still have to choose an elite O Line, or you're going to have the Texans (yeah, he's Sub-Elite, but he's very good, and their O Line is what kills him).

agreed, but id put carson one. and linebackers are overrated. if you have strong d tackles average linebackers can look like stars.

My first picks would go O-Line no doubt. I'd have an elite O-Line and David Carr over an average to bad O-Line and Peyton Manning any day. That's just me though.

Your first picks would go to O-line? Huh?

You know better than that from playing Fantasy ball.

All the top QBs will be gone almost immediately and you'd be taking Offensive linemen 3 round before anyone else. If you think they are important, I'm sure you could easily get the top O-liners later in the draft. You wouldnt draft Neil Rackers in the first round of your fantasy draft because he's the best kicker would you? No, if you wanted him, you'd wait until the later rounds and still get him for much cheaper.

An awesome O-line doesnt mean anything if they have the worst QB and RB in the league playing behind them.
