Potential NFL trades....

Postby kid a » Sat Oct 04, 2003 8:18 am

I know trading during the season is rare in the NFL, and those TJ Duckett to Dallas rumors are never going to come true, but I just found this quote from KC rookie RB Larry Johnson:

"They could have waited until next year to draft a back. They don’t really need me here. Priest is playing better than he did before the injury. I don’t even consider myself to be second-team. Derrick Blaylock would play if Priest went down, and Tony Richardson. They drafted me No. 1 and gave me all this money to be a practice player. It’s heartbreaking."

I'm not feeling sorry for the wealthy man, but wouldn't it make sense for KC to trade him? Maybe adding another first round pick next year, or depth at WR, or another linebacker? I'd have to think there would be a lot of offers for a high profile 1st round pick.

Just a thought.

Not when he's a RB from Penn State.

Best case scenario for KC, they might be able to swing a 3rd round pick for him.

Ya I feel for you Larry, cry all the way to the bank. There is no way the Chiefs are going to trade him during the season. Even if he's fourth on the depth chart they still need insurance for the running game.

Holmes isnt getting any younger, Larry may have to ride the pine for another year, no way they will let him go.

Ya I read those comments from LJ right after he said them. Now he's dinged up and is not talking to the media at all. He was really great at first. He was quick to sign and come into camp and talked about how lucky he was to be learning from Priest.

I know he just wants to play, but please shut up. :-t

Did he really think that he was going to be starting or even playing much at all this year? You're drafted onto a team with one of the top 5 running backs in the league. There is no rookie on this planet that could do enough to win a starting job from a player like Holmes.
