Question about the way Yahoo's waivers works ...

Here's the situation with my Yahoo team. My league uses individual defensive players, and I dropped Archuleta on his bye week. I need a guy and I'm going to grab Deltha O'Neal. But I've also got a waiver request in for Onterrio Smith which goes through at 11:59 tonight (I'm dropping Joe Burns for O.Smith). My other bench RBs who are droppable are Correll Buckhalter & Shawn Bryson. (I've got to use one of these guys tomorrow on bye week.)

Two questions:

1) Can I still pick up a defensive player on Sunday morning and have him eligible for Sunday Week 5 play? I want the RB situation to sort itself out, then grab O'Neal, but I don't know if I can pick him up on short notice. Does anybody know for sure how this works?
2) I guess my other question then would be, who would you start at RB, in order cause I'm not sure if my waiver request for Smith is going to work:
Onterrio Smith
Correll Buckhalter
Joe Burns
Shawn Bryson
Rudi Johnson

(Note: I just dropped Rudi Johnson this morning for Burns, at least making sure nobody else could pick him up; but I'd like him ranked in your response for your hindsight opinion on dropping him.)

If he is a free agent, then yes, if he is on waivers, then it depends when his waiver period ends.

I'd start O smith, too much has been said about him having a big day, you cant ignore it.

So you can pick up a Yahoo FA something like up to 5 minutes before game time & plug him into your lineup? Just out of curiosity, does this still work the same way on a week when there is a Thursday game? If you want to pick up a FA who plays Sunday, do you have to get him before Thursday's kickoff or before his own Sunday kickoff? Anybody?

If there's a Thursday game, only players involved in that game must be set in your roster. Others can wait until their corresponding game time.

I think yahoo usually locks players into your lineup about 10-20 minutes before their game starts.

In my league starters are locked at 1:00pm (game-time). And I can get anybody I want sfter Thursday at noon, and start then that week.

But, I am not on yahoo...

I picked up Ricky A Williams last week, with about 5 minutes to go till kick off. Plugged him in and won my week because of it.
