That was the Coast Classic. 28 teams entered 2 kids in each weight class. Cody took 3rd place with his only loss being to a returning state champ. The team is ranked first in the state and 19th in the nation. Should be a really fun year!
Just catching up on this thread and it appears there's a nice residue of blood on your son - probably from a very effective cross face!

Our team won two (Colorado and Minnesota) and lost one (Montini Catholic out of Chicago). The loss was close and to the #7th ranked team in the nation, so was respectable. This means that our little team from small town USA will finish between 5th and 8th place. Not too bad!
That's awesome!
I sure don't ever remember a move called the cement mixer, but I do remember the headlock and he nailed it nicely. I beat a NY state champ who was kicking my butt for two rounds, but to start the 3rd I caught him with a headlock.
It was actually my signature move. I used to intentionally head butt my opponent on the initial clinch (which got him a little dazed) and move right to the head lock. I had an 8-second pin that way, once.
*SIGH* High Scool Memories!
Cody rocks! Congrats. You got a lot to be proud of!
