* Entering Cincinnati to face the high-flying Bengals, New England’s Green fought his way to the quarterback for a career-high 3.0 sacks in a convincing 38-13 win.
* Starting at right defensive end, Green became the first Patriots player to record 3.0 sacks in a game since linebacker MIKE VRABEL in 2003. In addition to his penetrating pass rush, Green played a significant role in limiting a strong Bengals ground attack. Cincinnati entered the game ranked 10th in the NFL in rushing, averaging 121.0 yards, but was limited to only 71 at home Sunday.
* The Patriots (3-1) led 24-13 early in the fourth quarter when Green registered his first sack of the day, dropping the Cincinnati quarterback for a 10-yard loss, forcing and recovering a fumble at the Bengals’ 13-yard line.
The strip-sack set up teammate COREY DILLON’s one-yard touchdown plunge to earn the Patriots a commanding 31-13 lead. Green also had sacks of nine yards and 11 yards on the day.
*In his fifth year from LSU, this is Green’s first Player of the Week distinction.
