Ultimate fantasy team!

Postby deacon » Fri Oct 06, 2006 8:49 pm

Just goofing around here but I was bored at work today so I started thinking about who would make up the ultimate all time fantasy team.

Based on players during their prime years of fantasy production with Yahoo standard scoring in mind.

QB - Marino
WR - Rice
WR - Chris Carter
WR - Andre Rison
RB - Emmit Smith
RB - Priest Holmes
TE - Kellen Winslow
K - Gary Anderson
DEF - 1976 Pittsburg Steelers

Can you top this lineup?

That's probably Kellen Winslow senior, who was a fantastic TE.

D. Marino
M. Faulk
P. Holmes
J. Rice
M. Harrison
R. Moss
Shannon Sharpe
J. Elam
Chicago D (several years to choose from...)

Would it be considered a thread derailment to also list my ultimately worst fantasy team? In fact, I drafted each of these guys in their infamous seasons (or in some cases, non-seasons)...thankfully, we have a deep draft so these guys generally didn't tank my seasons.

QB - Akili Smith
RB - Ki-Jana Carter
RB - Tim Biakabatuka
WR - Rae Carruth (who cares or remembers what his stats were)
WR - Charles Rogers
WR - David Boston
TE - Jerramy Stevens

Surprised no one's put Dickerson on one of their teams.

Or Sanders, or Payton, or the Greatest of All Time...

Jim Brown.

Did any of those guys ever approach 30 total TDs? Different era -- I'm not sure they would get you the fantasy points that today's RBs do against these porous defenses. Remember, Faulk and Holmes were breaking statistical records even though they were not, in my estimation, near the calibre of Brown, Dickerson, Sanders, or Simpson.

You could ask the question, what guys dominated their era? That would put guys like Brown into this fantasy argument.
