Pac-10 Officials keep thier prize posession undefeated!!!

Postby BGbootha » Sat Oct 07, 2006 11:27 pm

Anyone else see the end of the UW v. USC game today. Not saying the cheated, but damn....the officials sit around for 45 seconds looking like a team of retarded chickens with all thier heads cut off.

UW is standing over the ball waiting for the ref to put the ball in play.....the ref sits there looking at the other refs and waiting for the UW offense to get distracted.

Once Isiah is looking the other way....BAM, clock starts moving, end of game.

:-t :-t :-t :-t things that make you go hmmmm.......Hey how much is a BCS berth worth to the PAC-10 again????????

Did they get a first down on the play before? On the highlights it looked like they were saying they didn't, which means it was kind of bogus that they stopped the clock in the first place anyway and it should've been over.

If it was a first down then nevermind.

EDIT: Nevermind, it was a first down. For some reason on the first highlights the announcer said it was goal to go on the play before.

I saw the replay of this. Terrible way to end the game. It does make you wonder about the officiating. I wonder if this crew will be reprimanded.

Well nice to know you read my post before the insult..........The fact is USC and USC's reputation is worth $$$$$ to the PAC-10 a BCS berth is worth big bucks to the conference as a whole!

I am not saying the pac-10 officials were favoring the pac10 team, but it sure seemed like they were following an agenda.

Eh, that one looked kind of like it was on the left tackle, what the heck is he thinking there? They should've been set on the ball just waiting. They had to wait for the chains to reset and the play before was a fairly sizeable gain.

It did look like 3 extra seconds or so went off after the play before, but that's just the home field clock like you'd probably see anywhere else, though the ref was also very slow to signal for the clock stoppage.

Of coarse I read your post before posting.

Every team that makes it to a BCS berth makes a ton for their conference which is why I always talk about the east coast bias in college football.

But I can't imagine the Refs intentionally fixing a game.

Like Bagel said it was a long gain and it takes time to get the chains ready plus the left tackle was a bit late.

The first I actually got to see of this was on the college game day final on nyespn. Gotta agree that UW got screwed out of play. Yes, they should have been ready when only 2 seconds were left, but it shouldnt have come to that. Clearly the official was waiving his arms to stop the clock with 6 seconds left. If one second goes off, fine, but not 3 more seconds. I'm surprised the time keeper on the field didnt stop the game and request time back on the clock.

Yeah, I agree. But what sportcenter doesn't show you is that UW (left tackle and all) are ready on the ball for a good 20-30 seconds while the refs are off to the side discussing the clock issue. It is only when the left tackle turns around to see what the hell is taking so long that the ball is put into play!!!

Some of the blame for this goes to UW, some goes to the officiating crew, but most goes to the rulemakers. I hate this new clock rule. Something like this bizarre game-ending play never would happen with the old rule.

It's a crappy rule, plain and simple.
