Why wasn't Jordan charged w/ fumble on botched screen?

My guess would be that Walter was the last person in true "possession" of the ball...much the same scenario as when a QB makes a terrible handoff to a back and is charged with a fumble.

If the RB had it in his possession and then dropped it, it would be a fumble on the RB.

Make sense?

It was "up to him to make the play"? Says who? You? (I'm guessing you were facing Jordan.)

I didn't see the play, but if it a backwards pass...that's a fumble charged to the QB.

It's just like a botched handoff. Until the RB actually takes possesion of the ball it is always charged to the QB. That is an official NFL scoring rule.

Bingo. The fumble that Huard was charged with was LJ's fault (he hit him right in the hands with the exchange) but the QB gets charged with it.
