I don't think you need to question your sanity - with the 8th pick, I'd probably pick the top RB on the board. If no WR has been chosen yet, then definitely pick an RB - it's extremely unlikely that either of the teams picking behind you will take two WRs. This leaves you with an excellent WR in round two (Harrison, in the worst case, but possibly Owens or Moss), if that's what you're looking for. A top RB and an elite WR would certainly be a nice foundation for your team, especially if you can snag a sleeper QB later.
If a WR is off the board already when it's your turn to pick, the decision becomes a bit tougher. Play it by ear depending on who has been taken, but probably lean toward the RB.
