I just grabbed lito sheppard off of the waiver wire after he scored 54 points last week in my league. The problem is i start 3-4 dbs in my league and i have Ed Reed,Kerry Rhodes,Rasheed Mathis,Charles Tillman,Rodney Harrison , Ike Taylor. Is Lito Sheppard a one week wonder or do you think he should be a starter over these other guys. Thanks
well, it was his first game of the season, so it's hard to tell about this year's consistency level. But most of his points last week came from that long interception return for a TD against the Cowboys... So from that angle, he has very little chance to repeat.
I would start most safeties before him in most scoring formats, since he hasn't produced tackles on a regular basis in the past.
well, he did have 7 passes defended, two picks (dropped another easy one), and was a pro bowler before. So I would say not really.
I do think he is overrated though. But the good thing with him fantasy wise is that teams try to avoid throwing to sheldon brown's side, so lito becomes the necessary evil, which gives him more chances for picks.
With the way the line has been playing, passes are going to be rushed as well, giving him more chances.
The opening scene of the movie "Saving Private Ryan" is loosely based on games of dodgeball Brian Dawkins played in second grade.
CBs are way too unreliable to be anything other than fantasy backups. Lito had one of his best games, so dont expect that amount of points every week, but he's the most likely to make big plays at CB on the Eagles, and prior to last year's injury he'd been a Pro Bowl quality CB since getting the starting job. Sheldon Brown is seemingly slightly better in coverage, and Lito's a better tackler, so he's not entirely worthless in fantasy, but temper those expectations.
