Dynasty Thoughts - Michael Pittman...

Postby Plindsey88 » Wed Oct 18, 2006 10:06 am

Just a thought...

Michael Pittman is an unrestricted free agent after the 2006 season... He's never been a stud RB, but with his pass-catching ability, I'm thinking someone will pick this guy up and make him a starter in '07... Anyone else think Pittman has some value in deep dynasty leagues?

I like the guy. He's a warrior, no question there. But I'm not sure where he will fit in the RB market next year?

Thomas Jones, Chris Brown are the biggest names likely to be available next year. We could maybe add Domanick Davis and Ricky Williams to the list.

Plus, the rookie RB class could be interesting in '07, with Adrian Peterson, Michael Bush, Kenny Irons, Tony Hunt, Mike Hart (?), Garrett Wolfe...

So I'm not sure where he will go, if he bails from Tampa. If he lands in a great spot, like Denver or Indianapolis (?), he could become a good starter... But at 31, I'm not sure he has a very bright future ahead.

It's possible. It was just reported today that Tiki is thinking about retiring and Pittman is the same kind of scat back that Tiki always was. If I had to wager money it would be on him staying with Tampa since he's 31 and has been there for 6 years already. But it's possible that someone will give him a chance to be the feature.

That would be interesting...Pittman + Jacobs combo, since im sure Pittman won't be too expensive considering age and recent production, but if he can fill in for the things they will miss with Tiki that would be a dynamic pair, obviously Jacobs getting the majority of carries.

He doesn't have much fantasy value IMHO. At least not in the immediate future.

In the long term... I think he'll slip off the radar... he just doesn't have what it takes to be a constant guy... he's much better suited for RBBC. Every fantasy owner hates RBBC... so I don't like him.

it's a shame, PIttman in the right situation would do some nice things for fantasy leagues, especially in PPR leagues. I just don't see him getting that ideal situation... with so many other "classical" backs around. He'd fit in very well in Philly, but Westbrook isn't going anywhere. If someone else were willing to design an offense around a quality quarterback and Pittman, they'd be in great shape. I just don't see it happening.
Best... fantasy advice... EVER. :D

I think it's an interesting thought, but I think he has a slim chance of landing a starting gig in the NFL.

In my opinion a slim chance is not worth a roster spot in a dynasty.

Hes had a history of domestic abuse problems and some issues with his coaching staff.

Hes a solid RB but his history combined with his age makes me think that he will probably stay put and finish up in Tampa as their No.2 RB. I just don't see the market being desperate enough after this season to warrant Pittman starting somewhere.
