I'm kinda in the same boat. Sitting in 6th outta 12 with the most points by far. Still 4-3 though so I'm not that bad. Just ticked off that this week I scored the second most points and played the guy who had Vick, Ward, LJ, etc. I can't believe my luck.

A guy in my league is in last place in a 10 team Yahoo league and he is in 3rd place for points (actually only a few points behind the 2nd place point leader. His case it's just been bad luck on his matchups for the week. A few times the guy he is playing also scored a ton of points.

I am now officially 2-5 and would be out of the playoffs if they started today in my league. Yet I am 3rd overall in pts and only 15 behind first place. It seems whoever I play goes off every single week. Anybody ever have a similar situation. Scored the most points in your league and didn't make the playoffs. I didn't think it was possible.

Sounds like you need a better Defense.

The first place team in my hometown league is 6th in points... he just won yesterday with the second fewest points in week 7 (obviously he played the team with the lowest score). His team could easily be 3-4 or even 2-5, but now he's virtually a lock for the playoffs at 6-1 with a bunch of other teams tearing each other apart at 4-3 and 3-4. Hopefully his amazing fortune doesn't carry over into the playoffs.

That is why we play two games each week. This past week 3 guys scored over 100 points, I had 102 , but the guy i played had 137. It sucked to score the third highest, but at least I still won one game....

Happened to me last year. Dispite a spate of injuries, I led the league in points. Not only that but 7 of the nine other teams put up their high for the year vs me. 2 of them put up their 2nd highest total as well. If I did not lead the league in scoring on a weekly basis, I did not win my game. Missed the playoffs by one game losing in the last week while posting the second highest point total for the week.

And, that is why God made beer.

In 2003 my team scored the most points in the league and finish 8th- getting the last playoff spot and getting all the way to the title game. That same year the #2 points team missed the playoffs at 9th.

We were thinking of experimenting this way to reward your points AND your head to head record combined.

Each week you play 2 games,
1 against your head to head opponent,
and another against the entire leagues scoring average.

If you are higher than the average you get an extra win,
if you are lower you get an extra loss.



So you could easily score high lose your head to head and still pick up a win you earned for your high scoring week.

It's very frustrating, it happens to everyone now and then. Unfortunately there's nothing you can do but win. Good Luck

This sounds hypocritical, but if you score the most points and dont make the playoffs that seems to me like you are not playing the correct matchups. One would think that you must be playing the correct matchups to have the most points, but consistancy is the key. Every league that I have been in where someone complains about this, it always comes down to leaving lots of points on the bench.
