The Denver Post reports that RB Tatum Bell (toe) "sounds resigned to a ... reduced role until his feet get healthy."
Coach Mike Shanahan called Tatum Bell his "starter" Monday, but the newspaper speculates that Mike Bell may get significant work again in Week 9. "I would expect Mike to get in there and try to help me get back," Tatum Bell said. "The way he's running, hopefully he can carry it on through this next week."
Can't start Tatum anymore with confidence. Ugh, and here I thought that he was going to last the whole year. Obviously Mike Bell is the #1 waiver wire pickup this week, question is: do you have the balls to start him going forward with Tatum still in the mix. In the league where I own both Tatum and Mike, I think Mike is going to be my starter going forward until Tatum shows me something.
I think this may just turn out to be just like the preseason threads were predicting if Tatum doesn't get healthy quick. Perhaps Shanny knew all along that Tatum was just not cut out to be the guy?
Mike Bell = Mike Anderson '05 ?
Fresh RBs in the 2nd half of the season, who find themselves in an increased role, have a chance to become difference makers. Ask JJ, KJ, Mcgahee, LJ, etc. etc.
Turf toes in both feet = Shannahan not taking a chance. Denver's most likely going to win the west, and will finish the year 11-5 or better. Especially I wouldn't expect Shannahan to take the chance with Tatum since Mike is running so well (at least stat-wise: I didn't watch the game though).
11-5 might not be enough to win the division, but Denver and SD seem to be shoe-ins at this point.
I'm lucky enough to have them both. I drafted Mike Bell and traded for Tatum before the season began.
Whoever gets the rock 20+ times per game will be productive -- Mike, Tatum, Cedric, Cecil . . . The tough part is figuring out who will get those carries before the game starts.
I'm starting Mike on Sunday. Shanny will stay with the hot hand and Mike is the hot RB right now.

Stiller's just got beat by the Raider's. The freaking RAIDER'S. They're not scaring anyone right now.
That defense is still top 10 in rushing yards/game, 6th in overall yards per game...
If it weren't for my positional scarcity at RB combined with Denver's bitter revenge factor for last year's playoff game, I wouldn't even sniff Bell out.
