This is going to sound strange since you said you are already tired...But here is my recommndation...
-First, excercise until you are wiped out...
-Then take a hot, steamed shower to clear out the airways...
-Drink some type of citrus juice or Thera-Flu...
That always worked better for me than trying to sleep it off...Probably not typical though...
I sweat it out. I get in sweat pants and a sweat shirt and wrap myself in a blanket and sleep, by morning I'm fine Than again, I don't get sick very often knock on wood
Now I'm in the "coughing it out" phase of this junk. My nose is clearing up, but all that gunk that was in there is coming out and I'm hacking it up. I'm not good at coughing that stuff up like some people - I have to hack and wheeze like I'm dying of emphysema to clear it out. My wife thinks I'm coughing up a lung, and I feel like I'm going to choke.
It's pretty nasty.
I hate being sick. Not that I really like going to work and all, but I have missed more work this week than I've missed since I started working at 18. I have been weaker with this cold/flu than I've been since I was a young kid. This really sucks big time. Thank God I haven't given this to my wife or daughter.

I started taking a daily multivitamin about 4 years ago and with the exception of the occasional mild cold or upset stomach, I haven't been sick since. A few times my wife got pretty sick and I could feel something coming on, but I always seem to fight it off before it turns into anything. As we all know, lack of sleep also weakens your immune systmem. I get 8 hours a night, which I'm sure is just as important as the vitamins.
To sum up: Take a daily multivitamin and get adequate sleep!!!

I'm near 100% today, thanks to the drugs and LOTS of water.
The only thing is, I work for the Government, so today is a holiday (Veteran's Day). Figures.
Also, now that I'm feeling better and can get stuff done, it's 40 degrees and raining. I have a bunch of yard work to be done and I really want to get the Rug Doctor and clean my carpets, but if I do that today it'll take more than 24 hours for it to dry since I can't open my windows.
I am sick as a dog, terribly scratchy throat, stuffed up sinuses, and a wicked headache. Last night I was even on the pot for like an hour with explosive diar....well you know. The crappiest part is the coughing, nothing is coming up, it's just dry painful hacking.
