Too bad...I was hoping he wouldn't come in until 2007. That is, unless Gibbs realistically thinks that the Skins can create a 7-game win streak after losing 27-3.
Well, this has been another terrible, agonizing loss, but it wasn't really Brunell's fault. Our defense cannot play defense, they can't tackle, cover, etc. The play calling and coaching really sucks bad. Saunders and his 700 page playbook are both virtually useless. I'm tired of when it's 3rd and 10, we do a quick slant or screen pass for 5 yards when we need 10 to keep the drive alive. Also, throwing more than 15 yards downfield doesn't seem to be an option. Another problem which was evident in this game was the O-line. Just another terrible performance for the line, and Brunell, in addition to his limited mobility, didn't even have 2 seconds in the pocket to get rid of the ball for a couple plays... I think that there needs to be a lot of changes, such as having Duckett play more of a role in the offense instead of riding the pine. Unfortunately, I think this is the end for Brunell, that is of course if Gibbs can disregard his man-crush for Brunell. It is time for the Jason Campbell era to begin, and for preparation for the 07 season.

Brunell is good for one kind of team: the kind the Skins fielded last year, when the defense stops everyone, the run game is unstoppable, and he is rarely called on to win a game. In these cases, all he has to do is provide a tangible air threat (Brunell to Moss) to prevent 8 and 9-in the box. But this is not that kind of team at all.
The defense doesn't win games, it loses them, and the main problem is the secondary. If I had to blame this season on two things, I'd say "Brunell couldn't win games, and he needed to because the secondary was beyond bad." For this reason, the only chance to win is with a QB who can put up 30 or give up 14 on interceptions returned for TDs. The odds of winning with Campbell are a solid 50/50 (either you'll eek it our or he'll blow it horrendously) and with Brunell are about 25/75 (He won't ever lose a game that's going well, but the defense only comes out to play 3/4 of the time).
The run game works, the run D works reasonably well, the receivers run their routes, the Special teams is superb, and of course the coaching is above average. That's my take.
I just heard on Joe's press conference the kid is starting sunday @ TB
YAYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!
sadly, until saunders is removed as play caller, this team will continue to struggle. but hey that's one facet, The D needs to come around for this ship to right it self

Heck yes. JASON!!!!!!!!!!!! Someone who can throw DOWNFIELD. Lets use Santana the right way now! Deep passes DOWNFIELD. Enough of this idiot 4 yard passes on 3rd and 9. Yeah next week just got 10x more interesting.
