I think the unveling of a new James Bond is definitely worthy of it's own thread. Who's excited about Daniel Craig being the new Bond? Who's disappointed? Who's seeing the movie this weekend? etc, etc, etc...

I for one wanted Clive Owen to get the part originally and was disappointed that he turned the job down. I was like; "Who is this Daniel Craig fellow?" Anyway, I watched a movie called Layer Cake, so I could see how he measures up and I can totally see how he could be a really good Bond. Add to that how good the new trailer looks and the positive reviews I've read and I'm really quite pumped about it. ;-D

I always liked Pierce Brosnan, but with the exception of Golden Eye, the Bond movies he was in were very mediocre (especially the last one :-P). I've always thought there was a better Bond and better Bond movie waiting to be made... a hardcore, serious Bond, you know? Anyway, I'm really hoping Casino Royale delives on this. My wife and I are planning on seeing it Sunday afternoon and I'll be sure to come back and give my opinion after I've seen it.

All ive seen of him is the casino royale trailers but from that he looks like he will fit in as bond. i know that isn't a lot to go on, but it's all i've seen.

I thought the dude from Batman Begins would have made a good bond, Christan Bale. :-?

I think most people tend to reject change. I'm still on the fence with this cat as Bond but since I'm an 007 fan I'll see it. He certianly looks tougher and a little rougher around the edges than Brosnan. Hopefully he can pull it off and the fans embrace him, if not you can be sure they'll pull the plug on him quick. ;-D

He'll never get as much "pooshy" as Sean Connery did....

Eh, I've seen the previews...He seems to be capable of playing the part even though he doesn't exactly fit the look of the past Bond actors...Maybe he'll bring some life back to the Bond series...

Bond movies = straight to DVD. I never go to the theaters to watch them, they are typically B grade movies.

Clive Owen.... mehh.

I think the new guy looks right as Bond, at least in the trailers. And its getting great reviews.

I saw Casino Royale, last night (a friend had tix to an advanced screeining). In a word....awesome!!! The new Bond, Daniel Craig, rocks -- the best since Connery in my opinion. The story is much more complex than other Bond movies, with more twists and dealing with the background of how he became 007 and what makes him tick. And the action is like nothing you've ever seen (especially a foot chase at the beginning). On its own merits, this may be the best movie in the series. In short, I was blown away and super-glad to see it on big screen.
