Actually the automatic BCS bowl game only works for one team who finishes in the top 4 of the BCS. Since that will be Michigan, even if Florida loses and LSU moves up to #4, since Michigan will be ahead of them they could theoretically not make a BCS bowl game. Which I think will happen if Florida loses because I think the Orange Bowl would select Florida over LSU (given that the Rose Bowl selects Mich/ND and not Mich/LSU).
Someone knows something because 14,000 tickets have been sold to LSU fans to the Rose Bowl.

You don't really want the locals to get toickets b/c they do not rent hotels, go out to eat, etc. etc. etc. the more people you get to come from out of town that stay for more than the game the better.
True about not wanting the locals at games, but I tend to agree with Luca. If a team has any kind of fan base, the fans will travel for a BCS bowl. The reality is that you only need one marquee name because that team's fans will generally buy up anything that the other team's fans leave behind.
Actually, when it comes to ND, I dont think 'butts in seats' is what the bowl is concerned with. I think they're more concerned with TV ratings. ND is pretty much guaranteed ratings no matter who they play, where as other teams, its not as much of a given.
I dont like it. I dont necessarily buy it. But thats the unfortunate reality.

That is absoluely true, there is a reason NBC airs just about EVERYONE of their games.
I think ND gets soooo many people watching their games because so many people root against them. Other teams get the fans, but others couldn't care less. ND has fans watching, and also has all the people who hate them so much their opponent becomes their number 1 fan. Correct me if I'm wrong.

They get more people watching because they hate them but I bet if you took a poll of American College Football fans asking who their favorite team was, I'd put my money on ND having the most fans.

I agree, i think most of it history and they were always on TV so people got a chance to watch them. I root for ND when they are not playing UF, but thats b/c my Uncle played for them and i grew up watching them.
The local station here in Tampa is reporting that of the over 20,000 tickets given to OSU for the NC game only 1,600 will be given to students, the rest are going to alumni, faculty, corporations etc. The OSU students are pissed.

1,500 tix available for UF students for the SEC title game and Atlanta is a stone's throw from Gainesville, compared to Columbus to Tempe.

There were 5,500 tickets available to UF students for the neutral site Florida/Georgia game and 1,500 available for the UF/FSU game in Tally if that puts things into perspective as to how badly the OSU students are getting screwed here.
