Testaverde runs out the clock

Postby cordscords » Sun Nov 19, 2006 9:32 pm

Tom Brady threw for 244 yards and four touchdowns before he was replaced by backup Matt Cassel late in the fourth quarter. Testaverde, who was signed by New England earlier this week, then came in to run out the clock.

However

Nov 19 The New England Patriots have declared CB Asante Samuel, TE David Thomas, FS Eugene Wilson, DL Le Kevin Smith, DL Marquise Hill, SS Rodney Harrison, QB Vinny Testaverde, OT Wesley Britt inactive for Week 11.

Was he actually declared inactive, or can the Patriots be penalized?

He's listed with 3 carries for -3 yards by Yahoo! I would imagine this will cause some kind of uproar...

I guess Brady should have stayed in and done the honors after destroying the Green Bay secondary.

I didn't see the game, but I don't understand the reasoing behind taking out the 2nd string QB, to put the 3rd Stringer in...to run the ball...for -3 yards.

Maybe Vinny gets a contract bonus for playing in a certain number of games? :-?

Either way, that's pretty bad. :-b

It was to get Vinny officially into a game in his 20th (or whatever number it is) season. Hopefully it's the last time he plays for the Pats' sake.
