Why was this Dynasty Trade Vetoed?!?!

Postby Deathwarmedover » Sat Nov 25, 2006 4:56 pm

I give up Portis, Dunn and Greg Jennings

I get Tiki and DeAngelo Williams

My team is 7-4 and on the edge of making the playoffs his is 3-8 and done for the season. This league votes on trades and the vote was 6-3 to veto this. I am starting to wonder if I am missing something that makes this unbalanced. This is the 2nd year for the league and everyone seems to have been really fair up to this point.

My Roster

QB Romo
RB Willie Parker
RB Dunn
WR Holt
WR Fitz
WR J Horn
Flex Henry
TE Cooley
K Graham
DST Pittsburg

BN Hasselbeck
BN Leinart
BN Portis
BN G Jennings
BN R Caldwell
BN Mark Clayton
BN Joe Klopfenstein
BN Tynes
BN Miami DST

His Roster

QB Brady
RB Tiki
RB A Green
WR S Smith
WR C Chambers
WR K Johnson
Flex D Williams
TE Des Clark
K Vinatieri
DST Giants

BN A Smith
BN V Young
BN D Foster
BN S Gado
BN E Kennison
BN Rod Smith
BN A Randel El
BN V Davis
BN Dallas

Tiki's retiring. So basically you're giving up 2 good RB's and a WR with tons of potential and getting 1 good RB who could be something great in the future but will never be as good as Dunn and Portis combined.

because tiki has no value in a keeper/dynasty. im not sure why you accepted that trade....maybe for a championship run this year. but not worth it imo.

it may be a little unbalanced, but there is logic behind this trade. youre trying to win this year, and youre giving up some future talent to get that. this trade isnt vetoable.

Not vetoable.

Every year in my league this happens around weeks 10-12 where a couple teams that are on the playoff bubble mortgage their future for a run this year. Honestly though, if I were the other team in this trade I'd be raising all hell because it clearly benefits him more for next year.

I think this is just a case of "why didn't I think of trading for Tiki?" envy.

I don't think it is vetoable, but they probably figured that it would be too harmful to ur team in the future, since ur giving up Portis, and basically renting Barber.

I don't think that was a question. I think he's asking, why would you want to trade for tiki in a dynasty league if he's going to retire?

Of course, the answer has already been given. The same reason the Yankees traded away their young talent every year for cash cows that would help them win that particular year. It is a short-term strategy...many would not do it, but I don't see how it is vetoeable.
