Worst Conference?

I think this season the argument has to include the Big XII, the Big East and the WAC.

Next year the Big XII will look much different than in 2006, but we have to take our lumps this year for our poor play. :-/

I'd make it a pretty close call between the ACC and the Big East. We've got a Wake Forest/Georgia Tech ACC Championship game and I don't think either of those teams is BCS worthy. I don't think any of the Big East schools are BCS worthy either. Put me on the spot and I'll say that the Big East is a little worse off overall.

Although I think Louisville could take any ACC team or any Big 12 team- u got justification for this pick?

The question was not is 1 team in a conference able to beat a team in another conference but which conference is the worst. The Big East has ZERO quality wins over a non Big East team, the top teams in the conference should have good records they play no one, outside of the Top 3 teams in the league the other teams are completely horrible.

I guess I'm confused by what you mean. Louisville and WVU could beat any ACC team on a given day. I also think VT, BC, Clemson, and GT could beat any Big East team on any given day. Neither conference has a truly dominant team, although I will say that Louisville looks like the strongest team in the two conferences.

But a conference is made up of multiple teams, and as a whole I think the Big East or the Big 12 are worse. The ACC has been mediocre, we're not giant killers this season - but our mid-level is pretty good compared to the other conferences in question. Miami and FSU are near the bottom of their divisions. Miami has a NC caliber defense, they just don't have an offense to go along with it. FSU still has playmakers and speed on defense and played Florida pretty close - not bad for a mid-level ACC team vs. the potential SEC champion.

I just don't think the Big East or Big 12 has that much depth.

That's the Big XII spot-on. We're a conference full of young players and relatively new coaches. Next year or a couple of years from now we'll be fine once again, but this year not so much.

I can see not including the SEC in this discussion. I suppose not including the Big10 is acceptable due to their top3. But if youre trying to sort out among the rest who is worse, youre splitting hairs. I laugh at all the comments made about the Big East, Big12, and ACC. Every comment one makes about one, really applies to all of them. They all have 1-3 pretty good teams at the top, a robust midsection, and 1-2 dog teams.

Pray tell where is the robust mid section of the Big East? That is probably the #1 reason I have them as the worst.

Out of 8 teams you have South FLA, Pitt, and Natti. I suppose your could throw WV in there and say that Rutgers and Louisville are the class of the conference. If anything, what makes the Big East appear so bad is that theres only 8 teams to choose from. If 2 of them suck (Syracuse, UConn), thats 25% of the conference.
