All absolutes have their exceptions. No QB until 6, all RB until 3, WR-WR only, whatever.... all strategies are sub-optimum unless you're also looking and applying what is happening in your draft as it happens.
And yes, people that have played fantasy for more than one season have picked a QB in the first round. Sometimes with great success. Or I suppose you believe that picking Lamont Jordan, Ronnie Brown, or Edge in the first round this year was a punched ticket to the championship?
