Split National Title?

I haven't seen any articles on this or anything, its just an idea that popped into my head. But wouldn't it make sense if there was an opportunity for a split for the national championship if Michigan and USC both with their bowl game. THey are so close in teh BCS rankings, and there are so many reasons you could argue either one of them should play for the national championship. Why not a split if USC beats OSU, and if Michigan beats ?? (probably LSU)

Actually the USA Today voters are required to vote for the winner of the NC game. However, the AP poll voters can vote for whomever they please.

That's how there was the split LSU/USC National Title in 2003.

It isn't like this is an idea that has never happened before- there have been split titles before- how is this time any different than those, such as i 03.

If i remember correctly the NCAA recognizes only the BCS now, b/c the AP left the BCS scoring. Someone may know more than me though.

Its possible, but not probable. I cant see how Michigan or FLA would get a leg up on USC if they were to win the NC game. USC wouldve "subjectively proven" that they are better than Michigan, and whoever FLA plays in the sugar bowl, assumming they get there and win it, wont have the "name power" this year to get them past the team that wouldve just beaten OSU.
