Special Case?

I'm usually one of the guys who never vetos a trade unless it's really blatant, so I have to ask your advice.

Team A is in last place. Also, he spoke to our commish and said that he has given up on the season and doesn't pay attention anymore. He has now accepted a trade in which he gives Willie Parker and gets Cadillac and Marty Booker (who Team B just picked up off FA).

To me, this trade isn't off the wall one sided, but it is pretty bad. Normally, I wouldn't veto, but given the circumstances, it seems that Team A (the team giving FWP) is doing it more for spite than anything else. It should also be noted that Team A already has 3 solid WR, as well as 2 decent backups.

Any imput would be greatly appeciated.

This is why you have specific trading rules and a trade deadline.

We shut down trading last week so this type of thing doesn't happen.

The commish should discuss the trade with the parties concerned and give them a chance to withdraw the trade so it does not cause hard feelings between the owners.

Otherwise, if the rules don't prevent it, I'm not certain the trade is so lopsided as to warrant a veto, athough it does not appear to make any sense.

Veto it if you must. The veto could cause as much grief as allowing the trade so you are between the rock and a hard place.

The fact that this chump has explicitly stated that he has given up means that the trade was not done in good faith. This guy should be locked from trading. It's not fair to the league that his roster is made unavailable for trading, but what's even less fair is that some other team gets a great player on the cheap. At midseason, I'd let the trade go even though I'd think the FWP owner is out of his mind. Under these circumstances though, I think a veto is not out of the question.

We had the same situation happen last week.

Team A which had 1 win and was eliminated form the playoffs made a trade with team B tied for first and they just happen to be friends for years

The last place team traded Steve Smith to the first place team for Matt Lienart & Santana Moss

Now the first place team has as it's WRs
S Smith
Chad Johnson
Javon Walker

3 of the top WRs in our scoring system.

Big protests erupted but the commish let it stand saying the points were about even, and in his opinion the last place team was getting the better of the deal. What a joke.

Lienart was the 30th ranked QB when the trade was made, in the past month we made several offers to the last place team to aquire Smith or Walker and we included Favre, Kitna or Vick in the deal, all of them are top 10 QBs in our system.

So he would rather get a back up QB than a starter,

Hmmmmmmm

a little fishy to me

These situations aren't fishy. They're just collusion.

Veto them and fine them $10 for being donkeys.

Sadly, with no deadline in place or rules for this, there is not much you can do at this point. And it's hard to call it collusion because one team had given up. It's not as if he went looking to make the other team better, he was willing to most likely make any team better. It's a simple matter of one team beating the others to the punch IMO.

And I agree with the first post that forcing this trade to be reversed could cause as much grief as letting it stand. Take it as a learning experience and make sure everyone realizes because of this that next year the rules will change.

As for Eaglefan and SDubya, I don't see how you guys see this as so lopsided and unfair as I would imagine both of you have pulled off more lopsided trades during the year from looking at your rosters unless you are in 6 team leagues or something.

Actually,
My starting line up via the draft was(10 team league, 10th pick)

Eli
Westbrook
R Brown
Roy Williams
Andre Johnson
Reggie Wayne(L Coles)
T Gonzalez
Elam
Pittsburgh

My key moves
1) I traded Thomas Jones and Reggie Wayne
for Reggie Bush (bad trade for me, took a shot beings it's PPR)

2) I traded Tatum Bell (when he was starting) & Mike Furrey
for
Willias McGahee

3)I traded Coles(when he was hot), Gonzo, & Jamal Lewis
for
T.O. Witten & Berrian just before Romo took over

4) Traded Leon Washington & Ben Watson
for
Ladell Betts

ANy of those seem really lopsided in my favor ?

Also Picked up Kitna on the WW
QB's E. MANNING / KITNA / CUTLER

WRs ROY WILLIAMS / T OWENS / A JOHNSON / BERRIAN
