I mean, Michigan did have their shot, and they lost.
That doesn't make them worse than Florida. Vegas gives 3 points to the home team which is exactly what Michigan lost by. The nat'l champ game is the 2 best teams regardless of everything else. Now you are penalizing Michigan for having to play Ohio St. earlier in the year?
They're actually penalizing Michigan for playing Ohio St. later in the year now. Had they played 2-3 games into the season then Michigan won out I don't think anyone would argue against them being the #2 team. Since Michigan lost to Ohio St. in their last game and didn't drop any, I think that's where some of the arguing is coming from. How many times do you see a team lose and not drop in the rankings?
But, to be fair, I didn't really think moving USC or Florida ahead of them in the polls was the right thing to do considering Michigan didn't lose a game. If they were #2 after their loss to OSU, then a USC win over Notre Dame shouldn't have changed that.
