Would you consider these trades as "shady" ?

Last week of regular season games in our league before playoffs. Trade deadline was yesterday. Top 6 of 12 make playoffs.

3rd and 4th place teams made the following trades with 9th place team, who was eliminated from playoff contention as of last week:

9th place team gives up Tony Gonalez for Adalius Thomas (IDP league). Adalius Thomas is now riding the pine on that 9th place team's roster, didn't even start him. 9th place team's backup TE was Chris Baker.

9th place team gives up Plaxico Burress and Kerry Rhodes (IDP) for Hines Ward (out this week for injury) and Richard Marshall (IDP)

The owners of this trio of teams know each other in real life.

I just wanted to know what others thought of these trades. I wouldn't say the commish should have vetoed them, but its still kind of shady to me.

Anyone else? I was about to type up a complaint on the league forum (not much good it can do now). Just wanted to know if I would be out of line in complaining.

I don't know how your IDP is scored but I'm guessing about the same as mine.

This is definately collusion and the trades shouldn't go through.

Somewhat questionable, but I can't say 100% that collusion was involved. At the very least, the owners should get a chance to explain their actions. But the trades certainly don't scream collusion to me.

And just because the traded players weren't used this week doesn't mean they won't be used in future weeks.

Well, that's the thing...there's no consolation bracket, only the top 6 go to the playoffs. This #9 team would have no chance to use these players in a future week. So this #9 team traded T Gonz away for an IDP that rode the pine, and Hines Ward who they will never be able to use because their season ends this week (and Ward was out on injury this week, so there was no reason to trade for him).

These trades are impossible to defend since the 9th place team got literally nothing out of them. Should kick out the 9th place team for next year.
