Nvrmnd. sorry get ya'll of topic so much. I'll just say the light side is a more respectful and hospitable place. No I don't want to get in an argument here. I'm the new guy and was fishing for opinions from more experienced posters.

I think that's actually a pretty fair assessment. I completely agree that conversations over here can be frank and quite candid. I wouldn't necessarily associate straightforwardness with a lack of respect, however. It's my opinion that it's a lot easier to get to the heart of the issue by simply saying what you mean instead of constantly beating around the bush. (kind of like what you did here) If people are too respectful of each other and never say what they really mean out of fear of hurting someone else's feelings, what do you really learn? Anyway, I certainly am not speaking for all football cafers, but I'm pretty sure a significant portion of them feel as I do. Hope you decide to stick around. We have a lot of good talks here. ;-D

i would say that is the exact opposite of how it is on the other side. the people over there are more confrontational because of what brings them there, baseball. i mean look at the conversations in both the leftover forums. you can't say anything in baseball leftovers without someone challenging you on your stance because there is so much information available to baseball stat heads. people can argue points back and forth while using concrete evidence. in football it's a lot more opinion based, because the stats aren't there. people are more lighthearted here because they aren't constantly challenged. i don't think it's better or worse on either side, it's just different.

Just to clarify, I was only talking about GT. As far as leftovers is concerned, you're right. Those guys argue over EVERYTHING!!!

I think Christy's a guy. O:-)

Yeah, "Chrissy" from the Sopranos. My bad. I would have figured it out had he spelled it correctly. ;-)

*edit* fixed type-o. Don't want Chrisy to think we're any less refined than he already does. ;-7

Yea I definitely took some crap for the "extra" s on the bright side....I researched it thoroughly and could not find any conclusive evidence that HBO does not spell it with 2 s's though.

anyway.....

believe me, I'm not implying anything negative about the football cafe's "refinedness". I just don't want people reacting to my assumed bias one way or the other. That's hard around here, in any of the cafes. And yes I'm trying to learn more about how and why things are so different in these places without ruffling feathers. after reading some general talk forum posts and the seeing (i believe) art vandelay's post, it's hit me like brick so I thought I'd bring it up with such a black and white example.

Consider me confused as well. This 'black and white', obvious as day difference between Art's posts is perplexing. I'm quite familiar with Art's opinions on some topics and his general way of expressing them. I haven't seen a difference from his Darkside posts to when he occasionally ventures over here. Not to speak for Art, but I doubt he would be offended if you elaborated on this.
