Heck he's practically too young to even go to juvenile jail.
I think his mom's too young to go to juvie....
While it's an easy slam to point out the mother is stupid for having a kid while she was only 15 , at the same time, she's the one who called the cops on her own son, so I do give her credit for that.
I agree that I hope Granny takes the Game Boy back. Kid doesn't deserve it.

I wouldn't necessarily call her stupid for doing so, without knowing the story behind the pregnancy.
If she was fooling around, then that would be one thing. However, for all we know, she might have been a victim of rape, or some other similar circumstance.
However, I do agree with both of you, on applauding the mother for calling the police. The child needs to receive punishment, so that he realizes that his behavior is not acceptable, and that bad things will happen if he continues down this path.
It's a sad story all the way around. even after he gave it back she still called th cops, i dunno what's a mom to do with a kid this troubled. I think there was probably a more rational reaction, but to give the kid an additional juvie charge at age 12 may not be the message to send.

The mother told police that the boy has a history of bad behavior, including shoplifting from stores and stealing money from her. The mother said he even punched a police officer last month and was arrested for disorderly conduct for it.
Yeah, this kid had it coming.
A little excessive, but I'm sure it didn't hurt.
Anyone else notice how old the mother was? The kid's 12. His mom's 27.
and beyond that....
"He took it without permission. He wanted it. He just took it," the boy's 63-year-old great-grandmother told the Rock Hill Herald.

Maybe I should have worded it better. She's stupid for keeping the child while she was only 15. Had it been incest or rape, there's abortion clinics out there. Had she been dumb and got knocked up, then give the child up for adoption. She's stupid for thinking she had any clue as to how to be a mother at 15 years old, hence, having a kid.
Oh, and I know there are exceptions out there who can and do raise happy, healthy, and successful kids when they themselves are very young, but the vast majority do not. Obviously, this woman is just another number in the majority.

63 - 27 = 36 yrs
2 generations
avg for them was 18 years old of having kids.
I know what you were getting at here, but the grandmother was 36 when she had her daughter, and the daughter was 15 when she had the son. Technically the average age of the parents were 25.5 years old. 36+15 /2.

It actually says that the 63 year old is the GREAT-grandmother. The average age of 18 I was referring to was for the 2 generations past the mother. I suppose it could have been a misprint in the article, but I do know simple mathematics Mad
