i think you made the right call. Team A may not have lost, but he didn't win either. you did the right thing in skipping over that due to team A not playing the #1 seed.

In the future, go on total points. The argument that you are being self-serving is ridiculous. Every team has an equal opportunity to score the most points in the league.
