Commish Question - Keeper League Playoff WW

Postby BeefSandwiches » Thu Dec 07, 2006 12:55 pm

I am commish of a 3-player keeper league and I was curious what other leagues do for WW activity during the playoffs. I don't want teams out of the running to be dropping/adding players that could affect those still in it, but I also don't want to prevent some teams from grabbing potential keepers if the situation arises.

Hypothetically, if Warrick Dunn had a career ending injury in the next couple weeks, Norwood is all of a sudden a great keeper for next year and if Norwood were available (he isn't) it wouldn't be fair to teams out of the playoffs to not be able to pick him up.

Should teams still in the playoffs only be allowed to add players in case of injury? Should I leave it open to everyone and reverse suspicious transactions at my own discretion? Any other ideas?

We have used the first option (injury replacement) in previous years, but I am getting a couple complaints this season. It is too late to make changes for the current season, but I want to get a solid rule in the books as soon as the season is over.

Just have a rule in place that while those out of the playoffs can add players for keeper purposes, they cannot drop anyone that would have a significant impact on the current fantasy season. You would probably have to add in that the definition of a player of "significant impact" would be by your discretion.

Discuss this with the league and get a rule in place for next season. In my personal thoughts on this, you should probably allow moves for keeper puproses.

Yes, you should allow it... otherwise those in the playoffs can pick up all the great WWs for next season.

Depending on who you use to host the league, you could just expand rosters for the postseason. Just say any team can do up to three more pickups for the remainder of the season. But can't drop anyone. Would solve your dilemma.
