im playing scheffler this week, think cutler likes him

I'm doing the same thing. With Stevens and Clark averaging 1 catch for 5 yds a week, I've really got nothing to lose.

I was thinking of doing the same ... I need every point I can squeeze out this week. BUT ...

I also have Heap and Winslow both of which have done basically SQUAT lately.


What do you think? Pick up Scheffler and play him or roll with Heap or Winslow. Both of which are in a matchup against eachother!

With those options, I'd stay away from Scheffler. He's been wildly inconsistent this year, with 8 games with zero receptions. Even with Cutler at QB, he has only 4 receptions. He's a nice option for next year, but for this year, there's better choices IMO.

I considered him for one team that is about to begin playoffs as an injury replacement for Ben Watson, but I picked up Vernon Davis instead. He's a similar gamble to Scheffler, but he was targeted much more often last week. And with Eric Johnson out, he's got no one to steal snaps. Scheffler still has Stephen Alexander in front of him, I think.

I believe Alexander is injured, but regardless I agree V. Davis is the better choice. Consider that San Fran gave him the ball on a reverse, it's obvious they want him involved.

Don't evalaute Scheffler just based on his goose-eggs. He was in the dog house for a couple months where he wasn't even active. Hard to get fantasy points when you don't even dress. His chemistry with Cutler was really great in the preseason and reappeared last week. There's a good chance of it continuing. I definitely would start VD over him though.

You'd be a fool to bench Heap against Cleveland. Heap's been very reliable all season and scored in Week 3 against the Browns.

Heap, Winslow, Vernon Davis are all better starts, in my opinion, than Sheffler. That being said, because of his chemistry with Cutler, i'm sure the broncos will probably be using him...rookies like their security blankets, and Sheffler looks like the guy, so in place of desmond clark or Jerramy stevens, i can see rolling the dice with sheffler for sure. And for next year, i like Sheffler with Cutler throwing to him all year.

I am having a tough time deciding between Scheffler and Utecht this week to sub for an ailing B. Watson.

Both Arizona and Cincy give up the 3rd and 1st points to tight ends, respectively.

By the way, when can we start officially calling him "The Scheff"

I love Cutler this week. And with that said, I like Scheffler alot as well.
