Need Advice? Split the Pot Proposal

I am in the title game and feel good about my chances in a very competetive fifth year redraft league against the commish and he emailed me the following proposal.


"Now that it's been decided that we are the 2 best teams - I have a proposition for you. The difference between $695.50 and $267.50 is rather significant, and a freak injury or random poor performance to a star player or 2 could cost someone over $400. So what would you think of splitting the pot? Since we're competing for $963 - we can do something like $500 to winner and $463 to 2nd place - so that our match would still have some meaning. Let me know what your thoughts are. "

He upset the #1 seed in the playoffs.
I started 0-4 and ended up 8-5 #2 seed and in the finals.
Thrown off by the offer and appreciate your thoughts.

To be honest.. you have the better team by a lot by just looking at it. LT + Gore in the 'ship is a very dangerous combo.

To be honest, I would take the risk and not do it just because I love the matchups you have this week

Ha, hes trying to sucker you in. He knows you have the FAR better team and is afraid of losing. Politely refuse his offer and rake in your winnings after MNF.

If you take the deal then the whole gambling component is taken out of it. Where the heck is the fun in that?

The whole point of FFL is that we get to combine our love of football with the utter joy of gambling. Take away one of those components and it just isnt the same.

IMO you should trash-talk him in front of the entire league for being scared and offering the deal, and then let the football gods decide if you win your league and the cash, or alternatively look like a complete chump.

Fred Taylor is questionable and there is a good chance he won't play.

Javon Walker has a 1st degree seperation of his shoulder.

Coles is hurt as well. I haven't heard much about his status but I saw the hit he took and it was a good shot to the rib area.

I would not take the deal. He knows he is a big underdog.

I'm not a huge gambler and like security. If the teams were even I would take the split. But they aren't. Not even close with his injuries now.

I'd politely tell him you think you have a great chance this week and want to just play it out.

You should be ashamed of yourself for even entertaining the idea. Kind of runs contrary to the whole concept of competition.

You would also be a chump and a sucker. Your team is going to roll over his in all likelihood. Grow some satchel and play him like a man. If you sucker out, you will be kicking yourself when you end up winning by a mile.
